Fonts in Linux

install manually

Create a dir under /usr/share/fonts/ and copy the font there.

Run:

fc-cache -fv

xlsfonts

xlsfonts will output a list of fonts with names that can be used for emacs and other programs.

Nice fonts

I Emacs i use:

-unknown-DejaVu Sans Mono-normal-normal-normal-*-19-*-*-*-m-0-iso10646-1
-unknown-Droid Sans Mono-normal-normal-normal-*-19-*-*-*-m-0-iso10646-1
-unknown-Ubuntu Mono-bold-normal-normal-*-19-*-*-*-m-0-iso10646-1

Try some fonts in emacs and get the exact name by:

m-x describe-font
